Mr. Popper's Travels

In the book Mr. Popper's Penguins the main character, Mr. Popper, wants to travel the world. His favorite place though is Antarctica because he LOVES penguins. If you were a scientist and could travel anywhere around the world where would you go? What would you study there? Would there be anything else interesting to do there?
